ABOUT CRISTINA ESPINOSA

Cristina Espinosa is a Los Angeles–based cinematographer and photographer whose work thrives in the creative freedom of independent filmmaking. Drawn to bold compositions, experimental camera movement, and expressive lighting, Cristina continuously searches for new ways to expand the visual language of storytelling. For her, cinematography is not just about technical precision—it is a tool for shaping emotion, revealing truth, and elevating the heartbeat of a narrative.
As a Mexican-American queer filmmaker, Cristina is committed to amplifying voices and stories that are too often overlooked. Her artistic drive is deeply rooted in a desire to portray minorities and underrepresented communities with nuance, complexity, and authenticity. Growing up without seeing herself reflected on screen, she now strives to create work that challenges what is possible and uplifts characters who feel fully realized and human.
Cristina has experience operating and supporting camera teams on a range of productions, including projects shot on the Sony Venice 6K and ARRI Alexa systems. No matter the scale of production, her priority remains the same: to ensure that every creative choice serves the story. She feels most at home on independent sets where collaboration thrives, creative risks are encouraged, and unconventional ideas are embraced.
Cristina continues to refine her voice behind the camera—pushing boundaries, crafting rich images, and helping bring powerful stories to life.
